About Course

The In silico Drug Design course aims to provide students with an understanding of the process of drug discovery and development from the identification of novel drug targets to the introduction of new drugs into clinical practice. It covers the basic principles of Bioinformatics and how new drugs are discovered with emphasis on lead identification, lead optimization, as well as structure-based and ligand-based drug design methods. Recent advances in the use of computational biology in drug design will also be presented.

  1. Introduction to In silico Drug discovery and Role of Bioinformatics in drug discovery.
  2. Introduction to visualization softwares PyMol and hands on demonstration .
  3. Homology Modeling (Similarity searching using Blast P and sequence alignment using clustal x software )
  4. Building 3 D Struture or tertiary prediction Homology Modeling ( Modeller software )
  5. Hands on training on Modeller different modelling methods
  6. Project: Model structure of any drug target related to MTB from uniprot database
  7. Perform PROSA ,Pro Q and PROCHECK analysis .
  1. Introduction to docking and scoring functions
  2. Hands on Autodock
  3. Hands on pyrx softwares virtual screening
  4. Analysis of Docking results
  5. Project: Perform auto dock for protein of interest
  6. Hands on Visualization of discovery studio to check 2D ligand interaction
